Space independance

Hmmm... I can only speak from the experience of the Panama Canal...

USA came and knocked off Noriega in the most dramatic, offensive and
distructive way possible.

Don't misunderstand me, I had no great love of Noriega, but there were many,
many better opportunities to take him out...including a perfect one just
weeks before where his own guards, tired of the situation, took him prisoner
and held him for the USA ( whose Central Command was 1- mile away) would
come and get him.

The USA kept stating that "the people of Panama" should overthrow Noriega...
When they did just that, they were ignored and unsupported.

Instead, the USA opted for an overwhelming firefight with as many as 5,000
innocents killed and destruction of homes and infrastructure.

Presently the US is constantly saber rattling about supposed red chinese
controlling the canal...
also about using canal areas again as forward strike staging areas for
attacks on Ecuador, Bolivia and Colombia locations.

These are issues that that show that USA will probably not stand by and
allow a delivery system (rockets) to be developed unless they somewhere,
some how are part of it. Boeing is involved in Sea Launch off Christmas
island.,, the only facility that is somewhatindependent (although under
Australia's wing as well).

Serious thing to consider before making inroads to real independent launch
facilities.
