There is, of course, a major and ongoing debate on exactly such
issues among the professional psychometrics community as well as
within the vigorously expanding scholarly discipline of evolutionary
psychology (formerly known as sociobiology). That so many sides of
the ongoin debate at those exalted levels are already being mirrored
here amongst us "educated amateurs" surely speaks well for the
GENUINE diversity of IDEAS in this group :)

("Diversity." Heh. Yet another perfectly good Standard American
English word that's been hijacked in popular usage to signify almost
the exact opposite of its correct lexical definition. Sigh...)
