The conventional ethics of sex was "time-tested" just in the sense that
there were few efficient contraceptive options at the time. But I don't
see an obvious lack of violence (the source of harm that is being talked
about in this thread) in societies that didn't use efficient
contraceptive methods. In fact, I would say that many societies from
previous ages (middle age, ancient age, etc, which had no contraceptive
methods as efficient as ours), look *much* more violent than hours, at
least under a casual inspection...
