Part of NASA's mission is education. It's written into the 1958 space
act (I think). In any case, every NASA center has a small education
staff and various programs. The NASA space settlement web site I help
maintain, http://lifesci3.arc.nasa.gov/SpaceSettlement/, is justified
on the basis of NASA's education mission.

The materials in one asteroid (the largest ) are sufficient to make
orbital space colonies with ~150 times the surface area of the Earth in
