More research and experimentation needs to be done on developing self
sustaining artificial biospheres.

Meanwhile, space settlements will need a steady supply of resources
and, though these can be stockpiled most anywhere nearby, these
resources must be acquired from places outside the settlements and
be dependable and, ideally, abundant and within range of available
and applicable equipment and vehicles.
