I said we know far, far more about asteroids than the moon.

We know the contents of specific asteroids from telescopic
spectroscopy.

Gamma Ray Spectroscopy is useful for finding Uranium, for one
thing.

Unlike planets and earth's moon, asteroids don't have cores so
what's detected on the asteroid's surface is basicly throughout that
asteroid. With planets and moons, the good stuff sunk to their
cores long ago.

Compared to asteroids, the moon is extremely low in volatiles and
metals.

I'd say check out the nearest five or six craters and work on the
one you think is best. You should also locate there, obviously.

That's if you insist on occupying the moon.

Overall, the moon is extremely low in volatiles and metals compared
to asteroids and dormant comets. Therefore, it's idiotic to settle
there. Visit, explore.. yes. Settle? No way.
