Inflation

What do you guys think about the inflatable satellites that the navy is considering? If a material could be developed that would meet all the requirements for strength, durability, patchability, and insulation, a rather large area could be supplied with minimal payload capacity. Of course, you could add all types of little gizmos that are necessary (a CELSS unit for one), an airlock, and maybe someone could dream up a system to give it a little spin for artificial gravity. Of course you guys can pick it apart, (or already have in former discussions I haven't reviewed).

One could even test this out by creating a smaller version of this and tether it to the ISS. Of course, even without the spin, it would provide some extra space to stretch out their legs and gain a little privacy, something much needed in such cramped conditions.

Anyone out there a materials expert?
