The core story is true (to the best of my knowledge) but this article
contains at least one serious physics mistake, which makes me question
whether the author truely knows what they are writing about.

"Since neutrons have no charge, and thus cannot be measured by a Geiger
counter,"

Now thing may have changed in the past ten years, but when I was at school
geiger counters consisted of a cylinder filled with low density gas, and
which had a metal core with a mild potential difference when compaired to
the outer shell. Nuclear particles would penetrate the geiger counter,
ionize the gas, and complete the circuit briefly, which made the counter go
'click'.

To the best of my knowledge, charge was not involved at any stage.
