It need not necessarily be so. As a mechanical engineer, I feel, we have
more or less all the technologies we need. Problem with getting off planet
Earth, yes, but we can solve it if we set our minds to it. If you have seen
ants at work, you will realize that they can virtually move mountains - by
teamwork, well coordinated movements and tireless working. (What scares me
most is the radiation out there, that is something we will have to really
work on).

What we need to do is to get someone to rewrite the current economic
theories - which do not make much sense. Instead of spreading happiness,
which seems to be the purpose of our current industrial economy, we need to
focus on improving quality of human life in a real sense (not the fiction
spread on TV) and get involved in something less narcissistic, like
protecting our environment and CONQUEST OF SPACE.
