True, in a post-9-11 world, we have to acknowledge that such can happen.
But my point was to raise the question if living in a cave for the rest
of your life was an equitable trade-off for protection from such an
attack.

In another posting it was explained your friend was thinking mostly
about a nuclear attack. But it remains that all of our Earthly
communities are similarly vulnerable to nuclear attack. So orbital
habitats may be no better, but not significantly worse, than our present
situation.
