Nature-Humans

Dear Selvaraj,

I know that Nature is important. In the Americas, the
native people teach us that we are part of Mother
Earth. And I think is important to preserve it for
future generations to enjoy. But there is anything
magical in Nature.

I have not denied Nature is important. However I was
pointing to a strange way of thinking that is
appearing in the radical "Deep Ecology" movement.

Humanism is the most important value of the Western
Culture, both religious and secular, and it is the
origin of several ideas like: democracy, social
justice, freedom, and several others. Forget humanism
and you have to forget about everything else.

The point is. If one doesn't believe mankind is the
important thing, it is quite easy to forget the human
rights of people.

There are certain "ecologist" groups -not all,
fortunatelly- that think Nature is the only important
thing: so they want to get rid of humans. That's
wrong.

This is a list of what radicals might do in the name
of Nature, if they got power. Actions that go against
human rights:

* Move people by force from where they live in order
to protect Nature.

* Sterilize people by force to stop population growth
in order to save the planet.

* Kill hunters.

* Stop people for burning wood in poor comunities, no
matter they got frozen.

So, the point is that we should not forget the rights
of humans; not in the name of nature or any other
cause. We should keep reading, once in a while, the
U.N. Human Rights declaration.

Ants are fine, but if they get into my garden I get
rid of them. I hate flies above all things, and they
are part of nature too. rats with Anta virus are
deathly, so it is necesary to kill them; no
sentimentalism in this.
And I shoot the first snake that crosses my path
(don't worry, where I live there are not poison snakes
so I have not have the chance :) ).

And I should not hesitate in killing a beautiful wild
animal that is trying to kill a human; specially if
that human is a relative.
