My take is that if a technology is good enough, then the politics and
economics tend to get the hell out the way. I think that politics gets
blamed for plenty of things that are in no way related, and economics
is just what happens when people are successful at something.

Are lunar elevators that good? Dunno. I await the NIAC report with interest.
