Mack Reynolds' _Lagrange Five_ [mild spoilers]

Actually, _Lagrange Five_ is the second book of three. The first is
_The Lagrangists_, the second _Lagrange Five_, and the third is
_Chaos in Lagrangia_. It has some good stuff, and might even make a
decent movie.

What I don't like is Mack Reynolds' habit of worshipping at the alter
of IQ, nor his apparant belife that it is OK to screw over the Great
Unwashed Masses, as long as the screwing over is done by really smart
people. I wonder, if the GUM see this in movie form, do they
immediately become opposed to the whole thing, on the grounds that it
is an exclusive club, accomplishing little other than to maintain its
own exclusivity? Powersats and such seem almost an afterthought.

Yeah, read it. Take out the social mumbo jumbo and you are left with
a pretty good hard SF trillogy.
