Hi Steve,

I also have ecological ideas but "Deep Ecology" is a
kind of extremist movement in the green party. At
least that's the idea I have of them.

I agree with you that population has to stop growing
but there are same facts people don't realize. In most
of the world, with the exception of Africa, the point
of no return has already passed. Two decades ago
developed countries were growing older alone; not
anymore.

Now in the developing word the same effect is
happening. In Latin America, for example, countries
are starting to worry because populations are growing
older and fast. And UN has predicted that by 2050
population growth will be a matter of the past. It is
even possible that people in the future starts to
worry about population implossion. Imagine a global
russian style population decline.

But there is just one point I don't agree with you.
Earth has to be respected as if it were our mother and
I like the native indian cosmology that affirm that.
At least is our place of origin and deserves respect.
However, the center of humanity can't be Earth. Man is
the measure of all things. Mankind has to be our
center. Preserve nature?, of course, but in function
of manking and not the other way around.

Thank to you Steve, for a nice exchange of ideas.

Regards,

Omar Vega
