Thanks for clearing up some of my confusion about the logistics of
space colonization. Here is my semi-tutorial and semi-speculative
article on just one model.

The politics of it... who are the "idea" people, and who are
the "money" people, and who expects whom to do what... is a whole
other can of worms with its own history.

I'd sure love to take a bite out of that one, and any links would be
helpful. It is my understanding that there is a planet-centered
camp and a space-orbit-around-earth camp (please forgive me if my
jargon and semantics are a little off). This adds a spin to the
politics for sure.

It would also be nice to include a more global view with other
countries' plans and achievements, if possible.

I did some research on the NASA web site, and I saw some info on the
ISS project. It has had people living up there for four years
(maybe even five) now! One of the crew members has actually been
there continuously for over one year. I was attracted by the human
aspect of it.

Apparently they are studying the effects of microgravity. It sounds
high-tech alright, but not too much by the way of colonization and
sending laypeople up there.

When it comes to my work on the fhe site, "Space" is my baby for the
moment, so if anyone has any critiques or suggestions for my
department, I'm open to hearing. I know those who write for the
other departments feel the same (but you can direct those comments
