One of the features of the SimCity game (I think SC3000?) was that it
allowed you to build "Arcologies," mostly self-contained communities within
your city, some of which looked a bit like the EPCOT center at DisneyWorld
(i.e. spherical). If you knew the right password, once your Arcology got to
full capacity it could "launch," presumably to become a self-contained
orbiting city. You couldn't see what happened to it, it just went away.
But it was evidence that the designers knew about O'Neill (or at least about
Disney).
