The discover, Mike Brown, gives an explanation on how planets are named.
The good names appear to
be taken. According to newspaper reports he wants to call it Xena, after
the Warrior Princess.
I like it but don't know what the old fuddy duddys of the IAU think. It
will give the Solar System another female planet, has Greek mythological
linkage and good archtype significance which should keep the astrologers
happy. In fact the silly astrologer in my morning paper was telling us today
what influence Xena was suppose to be having on our star signs. He will
look like a complete twit if the IAU choses another name.
