Mining Asteroids

Do you mean synchronous with the rotation of an asteroid? I thought
most of them rotated faster than you can orbit them with the gravity
they have.

I would hope to avoid sending people at all, for the first ones. Once
we have thousands of tons of raw materials in orbit, we can afford to
send people to do bigger things on bigger asteroids, but when
everything has to be lifted from the surface of the earth it would
seem to me that people on the spot are more expensive than the benefit
they provide.
