I was not thinking about some object being passively tossed at L1 or
L2 and just staying there; I think that it is plainly obvious that the
object would pass through and *leave* L1 or L2. I imagined some kind
of assist (by thrusters in the object or in a space tug that would
couple with the object) in order to hold the object in there. I think
that this would probably "wreck the economics", using your words, but
the strange claim that I understood from Dan's words is that it would
be physically impossible (and not economically not viable) to launch
something from a lunar pole using a mass driver and put it at L1 or
L2.
