I remember when I was a little kid making a time capsule with an article
about the future of robotics. We would have robot this by the 1980's
and robot that by the 1990's. Some of the things predicted were robot
judges hearing court cases, robot chauffeurs, robot gardeners, etc.

The reality of the 21st Century is that Honda is justifiably proud of a
robot that can actually walk without falling over.

The problems have turned out to me much more difficult than the early
proponents had anticipated. Predictions being made right now about AI
in the next several decades might be more accurate, but they might be
more of the same.
