somehow, we have forgotten what "government" is...

government is PEOPLE who have organized. Why then not feel its OK for organized people to do what ever they please.

Like any organized club, you have an organizational structure. If the leadership put in by the members, or the direction the club takes or its activities are no longer in agreement with individual members, its up to the members to decide to either quit the club, or change it back to what the majority want it to do.

Not to get into a political squabble of ideologies, but it seems OK for organized people (government) to get involved in ANYTHING its constituents or their duly elected leaders decide to do.

So let the help into space come from what ever.

Practice government, not trash it.

I would agree on that point. Government should get out of the space
business and allow the private sector to move into space freely.

However when it comes to getting things going Governments have their
place. Most of western exploration whether it be Christopher
Columbus's or Captain Cook's voyages began with governmen
sponsorship.

They could certainly help by assisting space colonization in the
initial phase.
