Futudirection for Humanity? (was Don Davis article)

I think I'd back the weight of history every time....

Not really.....the same human forces seem to be operating....the breakup of
the Soviet Union, the rise of China, independence movements and repressions,
invasions and liberations, the rise of religious fervour in the middle east,
the rollback of Western Liberal society by fundamentalists within and
without it, these are all themes played throughout history.

The Pax Americana is ending, as did teh Pax Britannica, Romana etc etc

On what do you base this? If anything, the history of the last 500 years is
that intensity has gone up.

Better get a move on then, a whole host of freedoms are being rolled back
under the guise of "war on terror"

Thats actually not true, as anyone living in a totalitarian regime can tell
you, they become totally kafka-esque in teh way they work. The price for
security has never been control of the sort being installed today.
