sorry to burst your bubble, but that kind of atitude cant really work
in space station. imagine a situation where someone want to change
the size of his home by removing the floor and some of the material
below it. its his home so he can do as he pleases. within days hes
dead from radiation poison and several of his neighbors are on the
way to following him.

heres another one.

a couple decides they want to have a child a year. its been done on
earth. one couple could have 100 children if they end up with
triplets.

or what about someone setting himself up like the guy in waco. he
fathered over 100 children in a few years.

i hear ppl talk about, 'if the population grows to much, just build
more'. the reality is that growing has to be done in large expensive
steps. it takes planning. it takes resources, some of which may not
be available right at that moment. it takes ballancing a lot of
materials. you have to make sure that there is sufficnet o2, co2,
nitrogen and hydogen as well as metals. you have to make sure you
have plenty of materials to make the control system. these things
have to be hunted for. and in many cases fought over. some of them
will be very expensive to gain.

in addition to that, you have genetic problems to deal with. on a
planet with 6 to 8 billion ppl, thats not a problem. but one a
station with 100 k ppl having one person take up a .1 percentage of
the next generations gene pool can cause trouble.

yes, one way of handling the population decrease is to bring in new
ppl, which will aid in genetic diversity, but there are problems
there too.

one thing many ppl, esp from places like america, will have trouble
with, is that in space, you will have less choice, less freedom. not
because of goverment, but because space is a very dangerous place.
ive read many stories written by good writers about ppl that demanded
the kind of freedom that you have on earth. in most of these stories,
disaster quickly followed. in others disaster was averted by the
sacrafice of many ppl.

phrases like "sabatoge medical supplies" suggest things like
genicide, murder, attepmts to maintain "racial purity", nazi (or
simular) atitude. this is nothing like that. i would appreciate not
being called that. i have not suggested it, nor do i beleive it
would be needed. i am however a realist.
