I don't know if I believe in my own invention, to be honest. But I
would consider a balloon-supported mass driver to be at least somewhat
more possible than an aircraft-supported one.

NASA has put a small amount of money into study of EM launchers, though.
But disappointingly, the system they envision would have an exit
velocity of well under Mach 1. They seemed to view the EM launcher more
as something to replace the first stage of what would normally have to
be a 2-stage system.
