why outer space?

You are a smart guy, Ed. What do you do when you aren't reading these
discussions? Everyone else is also more than welcome to respond, if
they wish.
I like the magnetic launch idea, but it feels like there is something
fundamental about this that should be thought out more carefully. Since
I don't check my email every day, (time runs faster in my neck of the
woods, dunno why, perhaps children) I haven't personally had a lot of
time to consider it.
One benefit I can think of right now is a controlled launch and reentry.
No more aerobraking necessary for re entry, and much less stress for
takeoff.
