why outer space?

I just wanted to make a statement concerning the importation of metals
and alloys from space. Personally, my view is that anything
manufactured in space would be of far more value up there than it is
down here. We need resources in space a heck of a lot more than we need
it down here. It would be cheaper, I think, if we could fabricate our
structures and other necessities like water and oxygen, viable soil base
(minus, of course, the organic compounds, can't mine that on an
asteroid) helium-3, nitrogen, etc....,if we did not have to bring it up
from Earth.

And for Ed....my project lately has been redesigning my old satellite
dish into a solar cooker. I have to say, it generates an incredible
amount of heat! My project is nothing conpared to yours, however.
Robotics are the bomb, so to speak.

At my job, well everybody,...haha..I clean carpet and restore water
damaged houses. That is, when I am not chasing my children around or
playing on the web, or gardening. Another project I am working on a
little is concerning agriculture on the moon. A little hard to
replicate 1/6 G, though. But I try.......

I just like to do thought experiments, as I have a lot of
"nobrainer"time at work, and you guys are definitely mentally
stimulating.
