thanks for that info. since that is slightly more than a third of a
mile per second, it still falls under the classification of feet per
second. It would still be a matter of transfering the heat and
impulse of the explosion to the asteroid. i dont believe the material
falling back would have much effect on it. most of it would likely
impact quite some distance from the hot-spot.
