Eyesight and brainpower are not the only qualties that
I associate with birds. So if eyesight and brainpower
are the only qualities that we select for, we may not
be inproving the species. For example, those birds
with superior eyesight may have inferior singing
voices and those birds who are less adept at avoiding
the turbines may be superior when it comes to eating
mosquitoes. In which case we would be left with smart
birds who sing poorly and who don't save us from
mosquitoes.

A better argument might be that a very small number of
birds are likely to fly into wind turbines and that
switching over to wind power might even benefit the
birds by providing a cleaner environment.

Also, back to the birds, if environmental adversity is
viewed as a mechanism for species perfection then why
don't we see the most perfect forms of life living in
the most inhospitable regions of the earth and solar
system? That is, unless you consider the more robust
forms of bacteria to be the most perfect forms of
life.
