One would hope so, and yes.
The truth is, nobody ever dies from "old age;" people die from various
complications of aging. This isn't just being clever with words; this
is the truth. Think about it: if you were to cure cancer, heart
disease, and alzheimers, wouldn't people live longer? Add arthritis,
osteoperosis, and a whole list of other things which kill people.
Aging is sort of like AIDS in that it doesn't kill you itself, but
instead leaves you open to attack from other things which kill you.
There is no more reason to avoid curing aging than there is to avoid
curing AIDS. Indeed, aging leads to the deaths of more people.
