coal, diamond burns at well under 1000 C. A rocket nozzle made of
these materials, won't survive the liftoff.
Maybe that's the reason why Eric Drexler, when discussing the space
applications of Molecular Manufacturing, discussed saphire rocket engines
rather than diamond ones. Just an uneducated guess...

There is no advantage to diamond rocket nozzles. Like graphite, and
coal, diamond burns at well under 1000 C. A rocket nozzle made of
these materials, won't survive the liftoff.
