You have evidently invested a lot of time and effort on this ocean project,
and under the circumstance are disappointed that negative comments are being
made by people on this list. I remember, you have been posting on this
subject from time to time.

I am sure all of us here wish your immediate project all the best.

The problem comes with your overall philosophy. I am reasonably sure that 20
years back if people had seen the image in your website:

the writeup:

" There is a whole kingdom that lies uninhabited just beneath us. While we
live crowded and struggling on a mere 59 million square miles of dry land.
This new territory of certain promise spreads out before our very eyes and
unfolds to encompass an astonishing 138 million cubic miles of habitable
space".

.. would have impressed them even more. But no one is going to buy all this
today. The simple fact is, our planet is overcrowded not in terms of land
use alone, but in terms of use of all resources, including the marine
resources available from the seas and oceans. I don't think Joe is attacking
you personally with his comment of 'League of Ocean rape', the whole idea of
colonizing the seas appears untenable.

Yes, had we been wise stewards of our planet and some one had suggested that
the time had come to colonize the seas, everyone would have cheered; but
that does happen to be the case.

(I can only suggest that you should think of modifying your website,
limiting the scope of activities in the seas. For instance it may become
necessary to look for minerals under the sea, in which case human presence
under the sea 'may?' become unavoidable. A place to train astronauts? see:
