OK.. OK.. I get the point.. But for the sake of argument this was
partly my point exactly.. Material that is mined all over the world
and my guess even more so on the moon.. Is in the form of ores.. The
highest concentration of iron in any ore known is magnetite.. which is
72% iron.. Not all ores are of this type.. Some are as low as 48% iron
as in siderite. the rest is made up of silica, phosphor, aluminum, and
sulfur mostly... So the 70000000000000000000 kg of material of even
the highest grade ore(magnetite) would yield 50400000000000000000
iron.. The aluminum could be refined out and some silica.. But as I
have shown, the numbers are not as straight forward as they appear..
This is not even considering other useful materials like copper,
nickel, titanium, uranium, ect... These materials are in much lower
concentrations of their ores..
I concede that we're still talking about really really HUGE numbers,
but I still think asteroids are a better long term solution..
