Erm, isn't "in a few of the shadowed locations not visible to radars
on Earth" about the only place the ice *could* be? We need to land
something like the next-generation successors of Spirit and
Opportunity at the poles. That way we will know, and even if there
isn't any ice, it will return valuable information (indeed, it would
be worth something to know for sure that the ice ISN'T there).
