Could we be one of the OLDEST civilizations in the galaxy?

This almost seems to imply that you think we would have to travel faster
than the speed of light to colonize the galaxy. In my previous post
where I talked about taking 200,000 or 300,000 years to do that,
implicit in that assumption was that the ETs were limited to 1/2 or 1/3
the speed of light.

Yeah, I know, one has to figure on the time for establishing new
colonies and building up to the point of being ready to send out later
colonizers. Still, I think the wave front is in very short order going
to take in thousands of stars, and I expect it to be percolating pretty
steadily.
