Plant life does not remove carbon from the ecosystem, except for the
tiny fraction that gets deeply buried and millions of years later turns
into fossil fuels. The vast majority of carbon in plant life gets
quickly recycled back to the atmosphere via aerobic metabolism.

We don't need to stop having babies, we just need to expand beyond the
Earth. How much meat we eat has nothing to do with global warming.
Same for how many trees we plant (though trees are good for other
reasons).
I do agree that we need to stop using hydrocarbons for energy as much
as possible, though.
