Turing himself had several objections to the Turing
test. And, upon reading the Wikipedia entry on the
test, one of the objections to relevance strikes a
chord with me: that "A machine may very well be
intelligent without being able to chat like a human."
able to pass the Turing test with flying colors, then
an objection will be raised that such a machine is not
truly intelligent because of X, where X is some way of
raising the bar after the fact.
