is some way of raising the bar after the fact."

This is a remarkable way of putting this idea. I've struggled to
express it myself. I usually say something like, we are creatures
that can break the rule, 'Garbage in, Garbage out.' That is, we can
somehow take the information we receive, the DNA, the cultural
programming, the family input, and transform outselves--'raise the
bar after the fact.' I almost wrote, we are the ONLY creatures, but
a lifetime of animal observation makes me think differently.

I know you guys have your own take on this, but it makes me so
amazed, that the creator of it all was so in love with choice, with
will. So respectful of it. Of us. He could have programmed it all
and had a perfect little universe, but not!

If I could offer, knowing so little of the work done in artificial
intelligence, that it's possible that the Test is the knowledge of
good and evil, meaning the ability to choose the one over the other.
That's OUR test, after all.
