Hi Dave,

I have to apologize for my fuzzy knowledge about gyroscopic behavior
in orbital situations. From Ed's response I take it that a gyroscope
(Torus) in "equatorial" orbit around the earth with its axis
perpendicular to the plane of the elliptic will remain in this
orientation unless perturbed. Similarly, such a gyroscope
in "equatorial" orbit around the earth with its axis parallel to the
plane of the elliptic and pointed to the center of the earth will
forever orbit the earth with the same side of the axis pointed to the
center of the earth unless perturbed. Is my understanding of his post
correct regarding gyroscopic behavior in orbital situations?
