Elon Musk's Martian surprise (was The empirical data say Earth-gravity is)

Maybe I'm misreading this, but it sounds like they're saying if I was sitting in 40% gravity, and closed my eyes, I would not be able to tell up from down. That sure doesn't sound right.

I would agree that Mars advocates strongly insist 1/3 G is OK because they have to, not because there's good data to point to.
