independence. Where do the people on Island One get their clothles and
papers there? Surely it would be too costly to import them from earth due
to
the launch cost. Why can't we grow hemp for paper, clothles, bags and the
like in one of the crop lands? This simple crop can go a long way to create
a pleasurable life in the colony when we don't have to look at e-book all
time and get eye strains and get to feel the texture of paper for watercolor
landscape painting in the park. This simple feature can really enrich the
lives and add to the selling of Island One.

While we're on this subject, are there any experiment on growing plants in
space yet?

Would you really want to wear clothes made of paper or rope? I wouldn't.
Could you imagine walking around and getting Rope Burns. What's wrong with
cotton anyway? That stuff grows quickly enough. I know it doesn't look a
thing like Pot, and that's a real bummer for those people who wish to grow
the stuff on Island One. Also what's the matter with e-books? Haven't you
heard of intelligent ink? This is a sheet of paper enbedded with wires and
tiny little ball bearings that are black on one side and white on another.
There would be batteries in the back of the book and a jack for downloading
from a computer. I don't think we'll be using the glowing screens by the time
Island One is built anyway.
