Role of SSI?

I appreciate your intentions to get a bunch of engineers (any other
non-engineers out there?) to talk about the possibilities that exist for
designing space habitats. I note though, without surprise, that the
discussion about tire dust has got more of a response than a discussion
about the role of democracy.

Best of luck, but I think you are asking your very interesting political and
sociological questions in entirely the wrong forum. As I see it, SSI is a
bunch of engineers doing engineering work, rather like the Manhatten
Project. It will be up to someone else to decide what to do with the tools
and techniques that are developed.

For discussions about politics and sociology, I suggest that you join a
discussion group with a bunch of futurists. I can suggest a couple if you
are interested.
