I'm a big fan of Things Polynesian. But in this case, the better
comparison might be the Aymara Indians of Lake Titicaca, who build
their own islands. Actually, a combination of the Polynesians and
the Aymara would be a good comparison. The Great Voyagers crossed
with The Island Builders. Throw in a dash of the Dutch ("God made
the world, but the Dutch made Holland"), and I think we've got it.
