He's also credited for firing its first shots. Though it would be ill
advised to blaim him for it. Frederick the Great Britain's top ally
was not known for his coolness with diplomacy. And he was also some
one who totally pissed off the Austrian Empress, the Russian Czarinna
and Madam Pompadour (Louis XV's mistress and the one who ruled his
empire for him).

This thing was expected. Some saw it as unfinished business from the
previous war. The first shots could have been fired In Germany or
India.

In the end, New France Fell. It fell because The French didn't allow
it to have enough population to hold it. It fell because the French
didn't allow their colonists to clear enough land to feed themselves
and the French Army under Montcalm's. They actually had to shop in
most of their food or buy it from British America. When supplies were
cut there was great famine.

Ironicly it was the beginning of America's militery tradition. During
the previous war, in 1745, American colonists actually managed to
take on their own the french colonial city of Louisbourg. You might
say it was the Yorktown of the war.
