I found a site which states that an Earth-based mass driver (if it can
be built) would be able to propel a launch vehicle to orbital speed in
three miles... at 1,000 G's. What I'm wanting to know is what if I
don't want more than 3 G's, and am willing to settle for one tenth of
orbital speed? How long does my acceleration tunnel need to be? I'm
hoping for about 10 miles, but even 100 miles wouldn't be a deal-
breaker. As you can see, I'm trying to decide on a launch vehicle to
put the Ching family in orbit.
