OT: Say, I'm from the greater Cincinnati area too. Any science or scifi
groups we might have met through?
subject. The "suit up for work: gotta take your environment with you"
idea was very realistic for other worlds like Io. One thing I'd have
changed is that Titanium is not the most likely export of Io... it's the
most geologically active body in our solar system (other than the sun?)
so Energy is abundant: Electrical, Geothermal, Tidal... far more
lucrative than pushing Titanium out of a gravity well. But a great
movie for what we knew back then.
Some shows like Space 1999 made their mark by lavishing more artistry
than science. But a better Brit Sci-Fi series was "Star Cops" which did
a commendable job trying to depict microgravity, vehicles, travel,
economic contracts, politics, crime, etc, in 21st Century space
habitation. I think it only lasted nine episodes.
